For his contributions to Calgary, entrepreneurial spirit and business leadership, George Brookman, president and chairman of the Calgary Stampede board of directors, was recently presented with the 2008 Distinguished Business Leader Award.

Brookman, owner and CEO of West Canadian, joins a long list of business leaders who have made this city what it is today – the likes of Harley Hotchkiss (NHL board of governors), Clive Beddoe (Westjet), Charlie Fisher (Nexen), and John Forzani (The Forzani Group). The award is presented annually by the Calgary Chamber of Commerce and the University of Calgary's Haskayne School of Business.
