The Calgary Stampede and the Calgary Stampede Foundation are committed to providing the youth of Alberta with the opportunity to develop strong roots in their culture and heritage through programs that enhance personal growth, citizenship and education.

Calgary Youth Science Fair is Canada’s largest science fair with over 1,000 students in grades 5 to 12 attending. With a mission to promote an appreciation for scientific principles and methods, this annual fair allows students to come together to discuss and demonstrate their passion for science.

4-H offers youth the opportunity to show and compete with a wide array of projects such as agriculture-related interests, computer and lifestyle, lip-sync and more.

International Youth Livestock is currently one of the largest and fastest growing youth agriculture competitions in Canada, providing competitors with the groundwork they need to become future agricultural community leaders. Competitors are encouraged to develop their skills through hands-on experience in areas such as public speaking, livestock knowledge, industry knowledge, organization and competition.

Stampede Royalty have been goodwill ambassadors and youth representatives for the Calgary Stampede since 1946. As official representatives of the Calgary Stampede and the city, they make over 400 appearances in an exciting year of their reign.

Stampede Showriders are a dynamic group of young equestrians with a distinctive western flare. Formed in 1985, their initial mandate was to accompany the Stampede Showband in parades and rodeos across Southern Alberta. Today the equestrian team performs across southern Alberta and has traveled to destinations in the United States and Europe.

Stampede School provides week-long learning experiences, engaging students from grades 3 to 12 by providing immersion in western heritage and values. Our experts include a professional horse trainer, Treaty 7 First Nations consultants, cowboys and western artists and features programs such as the Galileo Educational Network project. Stampede Showband provides a dynamic, performance oriented educational program for young musicians and dancers to expand their skills and perform for thousands of people. The group makes over 200 appearances during the 10-day Stampede in July and presents their unique brand of entertainment to audiences the world over. This international exposure has earned them a reputation as one of the world's finest marching ensembles.

Stampede Talent Search is dedicated to discovering, developing and encouraging young amateur performers from across southern Alberta.

The Young Canadians captivate audiences at the Grandstand Show during the 10-day Stampede each July with their high-energy performances. Behind the scenes, the Young Canadians School for the Performing Arts develops and trains its talented cast through scholarship-based, professional instruction in voice, musical theatre, gymnastics, and dance techniques. The program has given tuition-free training to thousands of talented young people for decades.

Youth Speech and Debate is a program that Calgary area junior and senior high students participate in to develop critical thinking abilities. The top speakers and debaters from the program are invited to participate in a competition held during the 10-day Stampede in July. Prizes include two $1,000 scholarships presented by the Calgary Stampede Foundation.
